Cesaria

It’s twenty years since the rest of the world first fell in love with the voice of Cesaria Evora, — FIP has an anniversary post here. And it’s almost a year since she passed away. I still can’t believe she’s gone. “Miss Perfumado”, the breakthrough album from 1992,  remains the best way of getting acquainted with the unassuming queen of Cape Verde , but this impromptu broadcast duet — issued on 2010′s “Cesaria Evora and Friends” —  is the song I seem to listen to most of all at the moment.  Brief, yes, but haunting all the same.
