Very good news in British Future’s poll on attitudes to mixed-race relationships. (And here’s another intriguing and upbeat Daily Mail story, this time with more of a human interest twist.) To anyone of my beige generation, raised in the Sixties and Seventies,  the change in the climate is hard to believe. Britain is well ahead of the US on this particular issue, although even allowing for the exploits of Ali G, I don’t think we’ve come up with anything quite as funny or near-the-knuckle as this episode of the greatest sitcom ever made. (“Maybe he’s, er, mixed…”)
