Are you allowed to write about a biography of a friend and mentor? The ever-readable Alan Jacobs thinks not. But at least James Kirchick – a protégé of Christopher Hitchens – declared his interest. Some people aren’t so fastidious about things like that. And as one of Jacobs’ own commenters points out:

I think that if you’re looking for a prominent American magazine writer who claims no association with Hitchens, exaggerated or not, you’ll be looking a long time.
