Isaac Hayes, highly strung

What were they on when they dreamt that up? One of the many highlights of Rainer Hersch’s April Fool’s Comedy Concert at the Festival Hall this week was the guest appearance by the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain. Could Isaac Hayes ever have imagined that his immortal “Theme From Shaft” would one day be mixed up with madcap ramblings about venerable folk song collector Cecil Sharp?
