My review [£] of the comic’s show at The Vaudeville. A 5-star night:
When he is in philosophical mode, he muses on the difference between happiness and contentment and our very British habit of setting our expectations to zero. Politics made a brief appearance early in the show, Jeremy Corbyn coming in for some affectionate ribbing from a life-long leftwinger who has conditioned himself to treat election results much like the weather: disappointment is inevitable. True, even a comic as thoughtful as Bailey falls back on the old Tories-are-monsters riffs, but the funniest line of all was at the expense of the Greens, the party closest to his heart. He would make a wonderful secretary of state for muddling through.
